Channeling is allowing love and wisdom from the higher realms to flow through you.
Channeling is the communication with the non-physical realms, such as with spirit guides, angels or other light beings and entities. It is facilitated by a trained trance medium, who may channel infull trance or in a meditative state. Channeling is a sixth sense skill often practiced in the fields of psychic research and spirit mediumship. This form of mediumship is usually also called passive mediumship, or passive control, to be compared with active so-called mental mediumship where you deliver information on a completely awake level.
Trance vs channeling Channeling can take place in a meditative state, an example is during spiritual guidance or inspirational speech. Trance work is an extension of channeling and requires a much deeper state. From this state the conscious self goes completely aside, allowing spirit guides to speak through the medium. The tone of the voice usually changes and the choice of words is normally different from everyday language.
Transfiguration Trance mediumship can involve overshadowing and/or full transfiguration as well. Transfiguration is a part of physical mediumship, where the audience observe spirit manifestations. In the case during a trance demonstration, transfiguration is normally shown like an energetic mask over the face of the medium.
Development If you wish to develop trance mediumship, generally you must be prepared for the long haul. It's highly desirable to have someone with you, when you sit for trance development, not only for documenting and assisting you with questions, but also to monitor the session and you. I do not recommend working alone. However, like with everything we all have different tools in our toolbox, and there are many other ways to practice spirit communication which may suite you better.
